Italian fest to host Iranian short ‘Congenital’

Iranian short film ‘Congenital’ has been selected to compete at the 12th international competition of the Ca 'Foscari Short Film Festival in Italy.

Co-directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Ako Zandekarimi, the short film narrates the story of a 20-year-old girl named Roja who lives in a village and is forced to marry an old man to save his brother.

The cast list of the film includes Sarina Taraqqi, Ardeshir Khodadoust, Maryam Boubani, Arina Moradi, Hadiqeh Mahmoudi, Sabah Gavili, and Nian Saedpanah.

‘Congenital’ has previously participated in several international film festivals, including the 61st edition of the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic, where it received a special mention.

The Ca 'Foscari festival showcases films from around the world and is open to films made by students.

The 2022 edition of the event, to be held on May 4-7, is an opportunity for filmmakers to meet professionals in the cinema industry.
